good read. the amount of comments you see now on every social media platform casually talking about using things like chatgpt as a “therapist” like it’s normal or acceptable is so deeply disturbing. we are only just beginning to see the consequences

As if the McTherapy like Better Help wasn't bad enough. ChatGPT is going to be another form of self medicating for folks who are struggling. It's like an insidious form of eugenics.

a client of mine, who is a physician mind you, admitted to using chatgpt as a substitute for a therapist. is this what the kids mean by “we’re cooked”?

This is going to end up being like one of the Tesla lawsuits where the defendants try to point to tiny print about continuing to be vigilant during self-driving while every advertisement and billboard and website screams YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT A THING READ A BOOK OR SOMETHING.

This isn't a conservative publication. And they have an essay about the recent Minneapolis shooting. Multiple things can be dangerous & bad.

Suicide boilerplates were a staple of LLM training; I worked on it. There is zero reason those chats shouldn’t have been punted to a safety response and ended, unless they’ve disabled safety features (which I believe they did as API and model collapse ramped up.)

Where were you when Sandy Hook happened? I don’t remember any teary-eyed “think of the children!” pieces. I remember the entire conservative movement in lockstep demanding NOTHING in response to guns killing children. Where were you when Uvalde happened? I remember the entire conservative movement in lockstep demanding NOTHING in response to hundreds of police offices doing NOTHING to stop guns from killing children? And where were you yesterday, when guns were used to kill children in a church? Probably touching up this essay on why we should “think of the children!” when it comes to AI. But not guns. Never guns. Guns are more important than children’s lives. Say it with me. Guns are worth more in our society than dead children.
