Excellent analysis! One difference between this coup and the usual takeover: most well-planned coups have someone ready to assume power after the previous incumbent has been removed. Another difference: most coup plotters are sure they have assumed control of all the important local power centers (army, police, mass media, communications media). Since Trump, Hegseth and Rubio have failed to take either of these measures, I fear this coup will not be a successful one...
This has the market-juicing shock drama flavor of many of our DJT regime's projects. There may not be a long-term plan and perhaps they did not feel the need for one. They just shook things up and will watch for exploitable opportunities as the pieces settle back into new positions. This is not something new for this regime.
If they do not move to a full-on takeover (which seems unlikely), it would seem to give support to the argument going around that no one knows if a large cohort of Venezuelans or the PRC and RF would abide it. Although how a takeover would be opposed is not specified in anything I've seen.
Part of this may also have to do with throwing a bone to the empire faithful that infest DC and have connections to other power centers. Keeping them on side and quiet at no added cost is useful to the regime. It has the added benefit of letting the DJT regime play off the western hemisphere managers against the european theater managers within the empire bureaucracy.
If not coup then why coup shaped?

Exactly exactly exactly.
