There is a very famous 1941 essay by Dorothy Thompson called “Who Goes Nazi?” which runs through the list of personality types at a hypothetical dinner party and says whether or not they would become Nazis if the Nazis were gaining power in their country or city. The essay is fascinating and still incredibly prescient; in America, where corporations are legally people thanks to Citizens United v FEC, it is almost tempting to use the essay as a basis of some kind of BuzzFeed Which Hogwarts House Are You quiz on whether or not “Bud Light” or “Target” would go Nazi, if pressed. However, this is a trap, because, despite their donations to charities or rainbow flag merchandise, corporations would all go Nazi. Some are just a little quicker off the line than others.

Target, for instance, is the latest corporation to “go Nazi.”
