Don't spend it on Elon! There's something better!

On Wednesday afternoon, imbecilic “tycoon” Elon Musk tweeted this on the thing he now owns, Twitter:

Twitter

This is a reference to Musk’s plan to charge people $8 if they want to be verified on Twitter. More specifically, it is a reference to everybody (rightfully) pointing out that this is a stupid plan. Seems like Elon’s in his feelings!

Many people responded to Musk to essentially say “yeah I’d get the coffee instead of paying you money, you dummy.” HOWEVER. Paying $8 for Starbucks coffee isn’t exactly anyone’s idea of heaven either.

So. You have $8. Should you spend it on Elon Musk? No, of course not! Should you spend it on overpriced drinks from an anti-union corporate behemoth? Also no!

Guess what? By sheer coincidence, a monthly subscription to Discourse Blog also costs….exactly $8!!!!

Send us $8 and you can be sure it’s going to something worthwhile. We’re not a billionaire buffoon whose only desire is to remorselessly extract profits from the world. And we’re not a union-busting multinational that sees workers as little more than serfs. We’re a worker-owned, totally independent site that covers news, politics, and culture from a proudly left-wing perspective.

Send us $8 and you’ll know you’re supporting something meaningful. We’re in solidarity with everyone trying to make this a better, more humane world, and against anyone who isn’t. You probably think that the media needs more places like that. But we won’t be able to do it without your help.

Send us $8 and you’ll get something good back. Supporting us won’t just get you some vague kudos. You get real, tangible benefits: quality blogs throughout the week; an awesome community of readers; and the knowledge that you’re helping to hold power to account and keep a real alternative to the corporate-dominated media going. Can Elon or Starbucks promise you that? Of course they can’t.

But wait! There’s more. You even have the option of signing up for a free 7-day trial. Try us out for a week, for zero bucks! And if you like what you’re getting, think about sticking around.

It’s just 8 bucks—but that money can go to something good or something really, really dumb. So do something nice with your 8 bucks, and consider supporting Discourse Blog.

Thanks as ever!

Bari Weiss Is Full of Shit
Her big trans panic story turned out to be nonsense, just like everything else she does.

CNN's Disgraceful Propaganda
This segment from Dana Bash on the Palestine protest movement is one of the most shameful things I have ever seen on cable news.

No Hell Is Hot Enough for Joe Biden
I hope he’s faced with the horror he’s wrought when judgment comes to meet him.
