Thank you for writing on this! I want an academic thesis written on Alison Roman's appearance alone. I can't bring myself to watch the entire interview but it's baffling why you would say that you watched previous interviews and then admit: I didn't actually look up any of the historical figures you mentioned because I wanted to be "real." Like maybe you could do some research beforehand? That would also show respect for Ziwe and yourself? Caroline's goal in going on the show is a bit more clear (she is a chronic attention seeker at all costs) but Alison's intentions are so bizarre and ill-advised.

I signed up for an 8 person 'Social Justice Conversation' next week at the company I work for. I will admit it's mostly out of curiosity and I have no idea what to expect. Any of the 3 nonprofits I worked for prior to this job I was accustomed to working with people of all different races, religions, educational or socio-economic levels across several continents. So I just got kind of used to working with people from different backgrounds than me I guess. Honestly, I loved it, I learned a lot about what makes people different but more so how similar we really all are at the end of the day. Conversations about social justice or race were not an uncommon thing at all. I was on the Gender Working Group at one of those jobs, I presented that gender data at a regional meeting in Indonesia in 2015. Pretty cool, though I don't miss Indonesian humidity. Just curious to see how this conversation goes at a corporation.

I'm not sure if signing up for this was a great idea or a bad idea considering these are people I work with all the time. Thoughts anyone?

Im signed up for something similar at my giant tech firm. Im a white male fwiw and work with mostly white guys (quite a few of them are trump voters). A few have surprised me by being, seemingly, open to it and most hve responded with snark. Im open to the process and hope its worthwhile but i am not sure what to expect since my dept is so white and male.

I also work in tech and my company actually got an award from some magazine or something for being #1 in diversity, which makes me feel slightly better, but the bar is also pretty low in tech. The calendar invite I just got has a link to a TED talk from a 'values driven' investment executive. I haven't watched it yet, but the description does worry me a bit. I feel reasonably sure the answer to inequity and injustice is not some form of woke capitalism, haha.

I would say that you are correct! We had a big meeting yesterday going over the next 5 years of plans that will cost billions and will require many thousands of ppl to all work together. Im wondering if we will even have a country in 5 years..

Great piece!

I think I found a small error.

You quoted Rose McGowan saying:

"Hi, I’ve just been stabbed by someone famous...”

But I heard on the video, "Hi, I've just been stabbed by someone fabulous..."
