I honestly don’t care about the lovefest between centrists and “moderate Republicans”, the DNC forcing Bernie and AOC to hype of the half-dead corpse that is Biden’s platform, or the cringey pop culture nonsense. I expected all that from this convention. But this is downright insulting. You’d think the Democrats could do what they always do to social movements like BLM and ignore them outside of paying lip service, not spit in their faces and tell them it’s rain.

"We have a large, young, hungry base on the left that's looking for literally any kind of optimism, hope or help, should we address them?"

"Lol no fuck them, let's go after centrists in Ohio."

Dems have apparently convinced themselves that they'll make up for lost votes on the left by bringing in center right voters, but is anyone convinced that there are enough anti-Trump Republicans out there for that strategy to make any sense?

It's so strange that the conventional wisdom on "undecided voters" is that they're thoughtful, cautious people. They're not! They're overwhelmingly either complete morons or lunatic single-issue nuts! Moving to some imagined agreeable center isn't going to sway those people--agreeing that yes, pit bulls are in fact unfairly maligned in popular culture is going to sway those people.

As it turns out, it's kind of hard to push people towards the center when both parties have chosen to fan the flames of culture war for the last several decades instead of taking action that would benefit a majority of people in America. They've deliberately eroded the center ground, and now they want to plant their flag there? These people want to lose.

The whole time I was watching the footage of protests they used in that dumb ad all I could think about was how Ferguson happened while Obama was president, let alone how far back protests against police violence go. Like it's so patently absurd and honestly insulting to insinuate "this is Trump's fault" to anyone paying attention.
