Received the incredibly dad-core book for Christmas 15 years ago, liked it a lot, although it's probably more orientalist than I remember. Hopefully the adaptation bit is a ruse by the producers to create a sengoku era show on American television.
It also had a big deal 1980 miniseries with Toshiro Mifune where "An average of 32.9% of all television households watched at least part of the series." !!!
I was gonna say who else here is old enough to remember the broadcast TV miniseries from the 80s and their mom turned it off immediately when they decapitated a guy in like the first five minutes?
