Okay, so white pelican, bunting, shrike (do not fuck with shrikes!), grackle (big grack attack!), cowbirds, new world warblers, and wild turkey are all pretty easy picks. Maybe a little North American bias showing, but I am a North American birder.

Going with the petrel because petrels are very cool in general and the bustard because I like saying "bustard."

Scott's oriole on a coin flip.

Kingfisher for the female bird representation.

Burrowing owls because of the Dead Milkmen.

Closed my eyes and clicked on the gulls vs. brown pelicans poll because it was the only way to get it done.

I like shrikes, because every date with them must be something shoved on a branch. Cricket on a stick, Caterpillar on a stick, rodent on a stick....

RAGE GROUSE!

That's sad news about their status in Canada. Conservation efforts in the US had been successful enough to get them off the endangered species list, but that progress may be undone: https://www.audubon.org/news/frustration-abounds-five-years-after-historic-sage-grouse-agreement
