Amazing how the one thing they haven’t tried—which, coincidentally, polling shows would be massively popular with their constituents—is the one thing they steadfastly refuse to even consider. It makes one hope there’s an afterlife so all the enablers and mouthpieces and apparatchiks can suffer eternally for the hell they’ve allowed.
To give the itsy-bitsiest, tiniest bit of sympathy to establishment Dems, this is a very new and unfamiliar state of being: Israel isn't reflexively bowing to US political winds, Israel is the aggressor, and the Dem base has stopped whole-heartedly supporting Israel. None of the Dem leadership seems to know how to react.
Now, that said, you've had A YEAR AND A FUCKING HALF TO FIGURE IT OUT. You get no more sympathy, and the itsy-bitsy bit you do have is eroding by the minute. If you can't wrap your heads around it, let AOC and Jasmine Crockett and Summer Lee run with it for once.
The number of white women in this country happy to chirp about ignoring the genocide, when they aren’t openly supporting it, needs to be studied and layered over all the white womens tears about patriarchy, that they forget about completely the second they have the opportunity to oppress anyone themselves. Palestine will be free.
Why was it so hard for some well-placed Democrats to conceive that a significant portion of their voters don't like either authoritarians such as the Orange Felon or sweeping under the political rug Israeli efforts to totally exterminate the Palestinians?
I’m not sure why anyone still has any hope for the Democrats. While admittedly not a good student of history, I don’t think they’ve ever actually been the allies of the people. Perhaps there was some incidental or politically expedient alignment at various times, but that is about all. There is no commitment to the welfare of the many and probably there never was. I don’t know; maybe I’m off base but I doubt it.
Thank you for addressing the smugness among Democrats who think their genocidal party is entitled to support from the Left! I described their support for the Israeli genocide in Gaza as one among more than half a dozen ways in which they empowered Trump and put him back in office. Make no mistake: to whatever extent he may have appeared to have won the 2024 election, it is more accurate to describe Democrats as having lost it. https://shahidbuttar.substack.com/p/7-ways-democrats-made-donald-trump
I've been frustrated by how often antisemitism and antizionism are conflated. There are lots of amazing Jews who are opposed to Zionism. Using these words interchangeably makes a confusing situation even murkier, and it seems like both Dems and Republicans want to accuse antizionists of antisemitism.
Fwiw, this generic white liberal woman is vocally and proactively pro-Palestinian and anti-Netanyahu, and I tell Chuck Schumer and the DNC all the time. Their cheerful support for blatant genocide is horrific and unacceptable.
Multiple people on the Bulwark keep saying that there aren't any protests going on. I think a lot of them convinced themselves that it was purely a Chinese Special Operation using TikTok
