Excellent article. As Stephen Breyer’s Ice Cream said - the line “the feeling without the effort is poison” really caught my eye.
It reminds me of people clamoring to keep hope alive through all the upheaval we are living in. “Don’t lose hope”, “You gotta keep hoping for better” and so on. I always respond that hope is useless without a plan to back it up. We have to have a plan and plans need effort or we’ll just sit around and hope ourselves into living under a theocratic authoritarian government.
