that nytimes non-endorsement endorsement is fucking rich. “we’re not endorsing anyone but the election is between mamdani and cuomo and you should leave mamdani off the ballot. also if you leave both of them off the ballot you’re throwing your vote away.”

have the courage of your (shitty) convictions, nytimes. just say you want people to vote for the serial sexual harsser and be done with it.

also i love how their take on the rest freeze policy is that it will make it MORE difficult for people to afford to live in the city. what a bunch of shameless hacks.

NYT LITERALLY said it had "serious objections to [Cuomo's] ethics and conduct" and STILL said he'd be better for the city! What a bunch of unserious loons!

This is a thing I'm not seeing a lot in the post-mortems, but seems important. People don't want to hear that the place they live sucks! Cuomo speaking like NYC is a hellhole wasn't angling for votes from actual NYC voters but was trying to gin up national support, which he got, but at the expense of ACTUAL VOTERS!

Someone please tell me why James Clyburn felt any sort of need to jump into this race.

That line about liking the city stood out to me as well. I've lived in Brooklyn for 23 years and am here for the forseeable future because I do love this city, flaws and all. Happy with the results from yesterday and hoping give Mamdani my vote again this November to elect a mayor who loves this city too.

I spent a week or so in the Bronx. I loved NYC then and even more now💕

Cuomo belongs in prison for the lives he threw away in 2020. Failing that, at least he got his ass absolutely handed to him.

In other good news, apparently the polls have Mamdani up quite a bit against Adams as well.

The donors who invested $25m in Cuomo's PAC aren't going to just go away. I expect a dirty tricks campaign right through November followed by a concerted effort to throw sand in the gears as soon as ZM takes office. In fact, it will be no surprise if they suffer a bit of hardship to "prove" ZM's people can't effectively govern. And the NYT will offer concerned content about the "failed experiment" One hopes the new administration will carefully vet.

Let's hope all the dipshits who promised to move out of NYC if Zohran won pack their bags.
