I WANT TO LOVE DDG, but I'm disappointed every time I make it my default engine (every 6 months or so, for about 2 weeks). There's just no competing with the top dog. Maybe it's time to give Bing a whirl?
Mostly I just want to opt out of Google's awful AMP service.

There's also another one, which the name is completely escaping me at the moment, but I'm pretty sure they basically use Google's search but strip tracking out of it before it gets to you.
I can appreciate what you're saying. I wouldn't say DDG isn't a suitable replacement for Google but Google does make some searching more user friendly. Probably has to do with background too, I'm a longtime computer nerd so I definitely search for things in a different way than Google has evolved to help people search more in plain english types of phrases because I have habits that were developed way back in the mid 90's.

Nice searches, btw!
I came here for a Bing reference, and I was NOT disappointed.
