Ok, so confession time. I copypasted this article into an email for a friend who isn't a subscriber. What that means is Gmail included the HBO video you screenshotted and dear lord. What a murderers row of mediocrities. Hurts my brain thinking about it

While I personally endorse sending paywalled posts to your immediate friends (as long as you tell them to subscribe), this was a public post! You can just send them the link next time!
It is fucking IMPOSSIBLE to tell for someone behind a paywall. Unless there's some asterisk or something I'm missing. I'm on a few others on substack and it's such a crapshoot I just copypaste the whole damn thing like I'm my mom emailing me an NYT article in 2006
It says whether it's public at the bottom of the email ("Thanks for subscribing to Discourse Blog. This post is public, so feel free to share it."), but doesn't seem to display on the site.

The paid only posts have a little lock icon in the bylines
There it is. Good man. Gracias
that is, if you've paid your way behind the paywall, it's impossible to tell what is and isn't public, man I suck at writing.

Ahh, I'm old timey enough I go to websites.
